Nasty Chest Pump Routine! 10/29/2012

Today was a pretty darn good day in the gym.  I took a scoop and a half of “Animal Rage” preworkout formula and then hit it hard.  It was chest day today and I planned to attack it with a vengeance.

The gym was pretty crowded so I decided to start on the Incline Bench Press.  It seems to always be vacant.  That’s probably why everyone in my gym seems to have a huge lower chest and nonexistent upper chest, along with massive triceps and no biceps, lol.  Don’t be one of those guys!  Please hit your upper chest!  Anyway, I warmed up with just the bar and did slow methodical reps concentrating on my form and getting the blood flowing.  Not sure how many reps I did, but it had to have been around 25-30.  Not to failure though.  For my second set I moved up in weight to 135 lbs.  I performed 15 very strict reps, again not to failure.  My third set I went for 185 lbs for 12 solid reps.  My chest was really getting a good pump, especially in my upper chest.  For my Third set I went for 225 lbs. for 8 slow and full reps.  I took a video of this set, which I will be uploading to one of my youtube channels.  I decided to go for a fourth set, although my chest was burning like crazy and really pumped at this point.   So for my final set of inclines I pushed 225 lbs. again for just 5 excruciating reps.  It felt like my chest might explode!  I took a 5 min rest between my exercises.

For my second exercise I would be doing dumbbell bench presses.  Since my chest was beyond warmed up I decided to start out with what is usually my medium weight before going really heavy.  I grabbed a pair of 100 lbs dumbbells and plopped down on a bench.  I was still feeling pretty drained but the 100s are usually easy for a quick 12-15 reps.  I laid back and started pushing.  My chest was screaming!  I only managed 9 reps for the first set.  After that pitiful performance I decided it would be best to stick with the 100s for the next set.  I rested about 3 mins, and grabbed them up again.  This time I was able to push out 10 reps, but my chest completely gave out when I tried for number 11.  I felt like I got all I would out of this exercise and decided to move on.

After a short rest of maybe 2 mins I made my way to the cable machine.  My plan of attack was to do light cable flyes to really finish off and pump my chest into oblivion.  So I set the cables to the top position with some “D” handles on the cables.  I had 35 lbs. per hand, and locked my arms into position.  With slow precision I got in 10 reps pausing when my hands were together to force more blood into my chest.  I then traded off with my Partner.  When she finished I went for the second set.  I moved the handles down 4 notches to hit a different area of the chest at a slightly different angle.  I pumped out 10 more reps with 35 lbs per arm, again squeezing the handles together for a 2 count.  After my partner went again I again moved the handles down another 4 positions to hit more of the mid chest range.  I dropped the weight to 30 lbs for this set.  Bringing the cables parallel to the floor at the midline of my chest squeezing another 10 reps out.  A quick trade with my partner and it was up to me again.  I dropped it yet again another 4 positions for a very low angle approach.  The weight was moved at angle upward from my lower legs til I touched the handles in front of my nose.  This contracted my upper chest very hard for 10 brutal reps!  Finally we were ready for the very bottom position of the cables.  I dropped the weight to just 20 lbs.  This position contracted my upper outer pecs along with my front delt really hard and was a very vicious set to failure at 21 reps!!!

That concluded the chest portion of my routine.  I decided to also do some ab work again.  I did hanging leg raises.  A set of 15 reps, then 7 reps, then 10 reps.  I got a 50 gram protein shake and left!

I hope that this will give someone some insight as to what I am doing and maybe someone else can try it and let me know what they think.  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s routine!!!

Blasted legs 10/28/2012

So today I was determined to get into the gym although everything was working against it.  I spent some time with my daughter early in the day so I put it off til later.  I then remember I promised to meet with someone for work to go over a training outline.  :(  I waited around and never hear from him so around 7pm I decided to hit the gym.

My friend Courtney and I went together.  I believe working out with a workout partner can be a good push so long as you are doing more lifting than talking lol.  Courtney is still learning but she is awesome for a good push during a workout.  She is getting better with each session we have together.  Most of the time however I am lifting on my own.

After we arrived at the gym I chugged a little bit of a  preworkout supplement called Animal Rage(orange flavored).  The stuff tastes horrible, but hey it seems like anything that really works does!  This stuff is amazing.  I would suggest that anyone looking to try a new preworkout give it a shot.  If you can get past the taste it provides a great focus and gives you a bit of drive as well as intense pump during your workout.  Just be careful not to overdo it.  If you weigh more than 190 lbs I would say use 1.5 scoops.  I really like animal products and also Use animal Flex for my joints.  Your joints are very important to your well being and to lifting insane weights!  Please take care of them!

We started on squats.  I do full squats.  not just breaking the plane of parallel, I'm talking ATG(at the ground).  So I always start with just the bar.  45lbs for 20 reps.  This was just to get the blood flowing.  The Next set I went up to 135 lbs for a quick 12 reps.  Felt really good and could feel the begining of a pump.  The third set I went up to 225 lbs for 10 easy reps.  Kept my form spot on and really pumped some blood into my legs during that set.  My fourth and final set I didn't take as long of a rest period as I should have, so went up to 275 lbs for 5 reps.  I went deep and slow on this set and my legs felt like they were going to explode.  Usually I would go up to 315 but shied away from it a bit tonight.

My next exercise was machine calf raises super set with Anterior Tibialis(AT) raises.  So basically I started out doing AT raises on the calf machine with 70 lbs for 10 reps, then superset it with 150 lbs calf presses for 20 reps,  I repeated this for 4 sets.  The burn in my ATs and calves was very intense!

We then moved on to Doing Straight Leg Deadlifts.  I started with 135 lbs for 12 reps.  Next it was 225 lbs for 15 reps.  The final set I used 315 lbs for a set of 10 reps.  Hams were on fire!!!

Next was just a single set of Leg curls with 75lbs for a warm up I thought but my hams were toasted so i left it alone.

I moved on to Leg Presses.  I started with 695 lbs for 10 reps, then moved up to 785 lbs for 10 reps, and 875 lbs for 10 reps.  Legs were pretty toasted so left it at that.

Next was abs so I started with hanging leg raises.  1st set was for 20 reps, 2nd set was for 16 reps, 3rd set was for 12 reps.

Went on to do planks and side planks for a while, superset with flutter kicks, and kettlebell side bends with a 60 lbs kettle bell.

After my workout I drank A 50 gram protein shake.

I think tomorrow I will be doing chest!!!! Stay tuned!!!Animal Flex - 44 Packs (Google Affiliate Ad)

10/27/2012

Today was a bust for any workouts.  I am always so tired by the time Saturday's roll around that I either get a crap workout in or non at all.  Instead today I spent the day with my daughter.  My diet was pretty much crap also.  lol.  So anyway stay tuned because I have big plans for a leg day tomorrow and a spot on diet as well!  Gonna kick this into high gear.  Really looking forward to tracking my progress on here.  Also to let everyone know I am starting this blog at a body weight of 208 lbs and looking to slim down a bit to around 190-195 lbs and try to determine weather or not to compete next year.  Will also be posting up some measurements as well.  Will post up some links to my measuring videos.  Have a great night everyone!

Another note.

So to everyone reading my first post I must say that I am completely new to this.  I will be posting about my training almost daily.  lol, so that everyone knows I had a super hectic day today so I did nothing, but then again I have already trained everything this week except for my upper legs.  :)  Look forward to posting my progress daily.
